Thomas Jefferson High School opened it’s doors in 1968.  The original track was a cinder track and what was the former discus area is now our shot put area.  In 2004, we remodeled that location to be the current shot put facility.  Using money fundraised from the auction, and a ton of sweat-equity, we created a remodeled shot put area worthy of our brand new synthetic track facility.

In the 13 years that have passed, the ravages of mother nature, practice and competition have not been kind.  The throwing pads are now slick and difficult to get solid footing on when it rains, and the concrete enclosed sector is rapidly decaying and falling to ruin. In addition, we are in need of additional practice space for the discus event.  With an average turnout of 35-40 boys and girls throwers, we have outgrown our current facility and need to replace it to ensure that our athletes are safe and in a facility that demonstrates Raider Pride.

Our goal is to raise $6,000 to demolish and replace the existing shot put pits as well as to create a fully enclosed 3-ring discus practice pit on the west side of the track.  The $6,000 is needed to cover the price of demolition, framing materials, concrete, substrate for the inside of the shot put sector.  In addition, we will need to purchase the fencing and net systems to keep our discus throwers safe while they practice in the practice cage.

Please consider helping us to build the first class facility our athletes deserve to be safe and develop to be champions in the NPSL.
